China plans to send 1,00,000 ducks to Pakistan to fight crop-eating locusts

At least 1,00,000 ducks are expected to be sent to Pakistan to combat a desert locust outbreak, said Lu Lizhi, the project's in-charge and a senior researcher with the Zhejiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences. The ducks are “biological weapons" and can be more effective than pesticide, said Lu. "One duck can eat over 200 locusts a day," Lu added.
