The government has appointed Lt General Anil Chauhan (Retired) PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, SM, VSM as the next Chief of Defence Staff (CDS). Born on May 18, 1961, he is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla and Indian Military Academy, Dehradun. This comes nine months after former CDS General Bipin Rawat's death in a helicopter crash.
