Former RBI Deputy Governor Viral Acharya has said that the government must look into privatisation of some of the "relatively healthier public sector banks". This comes a day after the RBI proposed dilution of the government's stake in state-owned lenders to 26%. Acharya added that divestment beyond majority stake "will help relax the fiscal constraint" on the banks.
