'1 in every 3 adults had hypertension in 2020,' finds study
A new study found that 1.71 billion or one in every three adults worldwide had hypertension in 2020. Of them, 1.32 billion lived in low and middle-income countries while only 400 million were in high-income nations. Researchers described high blood pressure as a "deadly silent epidemic" whose burden on public healthcare systems has grown over two decades.
