₹5.31 lakh income tax refund ordered for taxpayer by ITAT

A taxpayer who was denied a ₹5.31 lakh income tax refund because he had not claimed it in his original ITR has won relief before ITAT Delhi. The tribunal ruled that the refund could not be denied merely on this procedural ground and directed the tax department to process the amount with applicable interest.
