Amaravati notified as new capital of Andhra Pradesh

Amaravati has been officially notified as the new capital of Andhra Pradesh after Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation (Amendment) Act, 2026, received presidential assent and was published in official Gazette on Tuesday. After the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana in 2014, Hyderabad served as a joint capital for both states. The arrangement continued for up to ten years, until June 2024.
