£24 million compensation for medical negligence
The Royal Courts of Justice (London) has instructed the National Health Service to pay a fine of £24 million (INR 2.47 billion) to a 13-year-old girl. This is the highest ever compensation awarded in a case of medical negligence in Britain. In 2010, the hospital had mistakenly injected 'glue' into the arteries of girl, which left her profoundly brain damaged.
