Australia passes world-first law banning social media for children under 16

Australia has become the first country in the world to pass a law banning social media use for children under 16. It requires social media platforms like TikTok, Facebook, Snapchat, Reddit, X, and Instagram, to prevent children under the age of 16 from opening accounts. Failure to comply will result in a fine of USD 32 million for the platforms.
