'Burqa ban' comes into effect in Switzerland

Wearing face coverings, like niqabs and burqas, in public places is now prohibited in Switzerland. Commonly known as 'burqa ban', the rule prohibits wearing any covering that covers mouth, nose or eye and violators will have to pay fines of up to 1,000 Swiss francs (over ₹94,000). Over 51% of people in Switzerland had voted in ban's favour in 2021.
