'Diamond', film that was created for a kid's homework, debuts at Cannes

'Diamond', a noir thriller film that premiered at the Cannes Film Festival 2026, was created in 2005 when filmmaker Andy Garcia's daughter was struggling with her homework. Garcia said, "I improvised this character and scenes and stories and inner monologues just like in an hour's time," adding, "I kept going back to it because of the love of the genre."
