'Durbar Hall' and 'Ashok Hall' in Rashtrapati Bhavan renamed

President Droupadi Murmu on Thursday renamed 'Durbar Hall' and 'Ashok Hall' in Rashtrapati Bhavan. They will now be called 'Ganatantra Mandap' and 'Ashok Mandap', respectively. The Rashtrapati Bhavan stated that renaming 'Ashok Hall' as 'Ashok Mandap' brings uniformity in language and removes traces of anglicisation and that the term 'Durbar' lost relevance after India became a Republic.
