'E-Eye' device to detect cancer-causing heavy metals in water developed by IIT

IIT Guwahati researchers have developed 'E-Eye', a portable optical sensing device that can instantly detect heavy metals such as arsenic, lead, fluoride, chromium, and E coli in water. With per-sample testing costing around ₹2, this device also analyses soil and food samples, offering low-cost support to water-quality monitoring for the Jal Jeevan Mission. The device costs approximately ₹3,500.
