Landowners not responsible for project delays caused by developer: SC

Supreme Court has ruled that landowners cannot be held liable for construction delays just because they permitted a developer to build and sell units on their land. Hearing a dispute involving homebuyers from Bengaluru, SC said construction and delivery obligations were solely the developer’s responsibility. However, it said landowners and developer must ensure transfer of title to flat buyers.
