'Maharaja' becomes 1st Tamil film to get Hollywood remake

Nithilan Saminathan's directorial 'Maharaja', starring Vijay Sethupathi and Anurag Kashyap, is now the first Tamil film to get a Hollywood remake by a major studio. Earlier this week, reports claimed that 'Interstellar' actor Matthew McConaughey would lead the remake. Producer Sudhan Sundaram revealed that Maharaja's ₹91 crore success in China prompted an agency to approach them for remake rights.
