Multi-phase polls may end in West Bengal, single-phase likely: EC

West Bengal Chief Electoral Officer Manoj Kumar Agarwal said that future Assembly polls in the state could be held in a single phase. This comes as Bengal has a history of its elections being conducted in multiple phases. In 2026, ECI reduced the number of phases to two from eight in 2021. Elections were conducted in six phases in 2016.
