Never in India's history: Sitharaman on cutting Income Tax & GST in same year

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that at no point in India’s independent history had government cut both direct and indirect taxes within a single year. "At one time...absurd levels of Income Tax prevailed…up to 95%. Within a year...we delivered substantial reduction," she said. She added, in same year, government also reformed GST structure, making daily-use items more cheaper for people.
