'Pisco' brandy belongs to both Peru, Chile: Delhi HC on GI dispute

Delhi High Court rejected Peruvian embassy's plea against Chile seeking exclusive rights to the name of South American brandy "Pisco" in India. Since both nations have been using the name for a considerable period, the law does not permit granting exclusive geographical indication (GI) protection to Peru alone, HC ruled. It allowed both nations to use 'Pisco' with origin-based labels.
