'Spider apocalypse' hits nature reserve in Israel; pics go viral

Thick blankets of cobwebs were seen in Israel's Nahal Sorek nature reserve, with some calling it a "spider apocalypse". This was triggered by outbreak of billions of midges, providing the spiders with abundance of food and drawing them to the area. "It looks like a scene from a science fiction movie," Israel Nature and Parks Authority volunteer Yehiyam Dahan said.
