'Kanya Pujan' honours nine young girls who represent Goddess Durga's nine avatars and is observed on eighth or ninth day of Navratri. Rituals include washing the girls' feet and applying tilak on their foreheads. They are offered gifts, while devotees touch their feet to seek blessings. The ritual is a way to recognise the feminine power vested in girl child.
