Why has Russia been excluded from 2027 Ice Hockey World Championship groups?

International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) did not include Russia in the list of teams for the men's 2027 World Championship despite a recent ruling that annulled its exclusion. The IIHF had said Russia won't be automatically reinstated, and its eligibility will be reviewed on an event-by-event basis. Russia has been barred from international competitions since 2022 following its Ukraine invasion.
