1 in 5 carry genes that have naturally stopped working: Study

Scientists are studying people whose genes have naturally stopped working to better understand the human body. A study from Pakistan, published in Nature, identified such 'human knockouts' on an unprecedented scale. Among 1.73 lakh participants, about one in five carried at least one gene with both copies disrupted. It identified knockouts across 6,476 genes, offering insights into human biology.
