10% hike on June electricity bills paused in UP, crores of consumers relieved

The Uttar Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (UPERC) stayed the proposed 10% Fuel and Power Purchase Adjustment Surcharge (FPPAS) on June electricity bills, providing temporary relief to crores of consumers. The UP State Electricity Consumers Council challenged UP Power Corporation Ltd's (UPPCL) decision to levy the surcharge. UPERC has sought an explanation from UPPCL within seven days.
