100-foot-high ice wall blocks Mount Everest route

A 100-foot-high ice wall is blocking the route up Mount Everest from Base Camp in Nepal. Hundreds of climbers and their local guides have been forced to put their attempts to scale the peak on hold. Specialist Sherpa teams, commonly called 'icefall doctors', are waiting for the ice wall to melt before setting up ropes and ladders on the route.
