As India celebrates its 80th Independence Day, 100-year-old Kundan Singh Madaan remembers the home and two grocery shops he left in Pakistan's Lahore at 19, believing he would return after the violence subsided. Eight decades later, Madaan lives in Jalandhar, India, but has never returned. He secured a 10-year Pakistani visa in 2011, but his wife's health prevented the journey.
