100-metre-wide rotating ice disk surfaces in US river

Residents of the US city of Westbrook, Maine are witnessing an ice disk phenomenon measuring about 100 metres across in the freezing Presumpscot River. When water in the eddy flows more slowly than the main current, it's more likely to freeze, creating the disc. The discs spin as they melt and melting water spins as it sinks below, scientists said.
