102-year-old mathematician CR Rao awarded International Prize in Statistics

Indian-American mathematician CR Rao has been awarded the 2023 International Prize in Statistics at the age of 102. Rao is being felicitated with the award for his work 75 years ago which paved the way for the modern field of statistics, the foundation said in a statement. Rao will also receive an $80,000 (₹65 lakh) cash prize with the award.
