10-ft-tall bird extinct 1,000 yrs ago declared world's largest

A 10-foot-tall bird, Vorombe titan, known to have become extinct around 1,000 years ago in Madagascar, has been declared as the world's largest bird, according to a study. With a 650-kg mean body mass, it belonged to the family of flightless animals including the kiwi and the ostrich. The study claims the bird died out after being hunted by humans.
