The National Green Tribunal (NGT) on Monday ordered a ban on diesel vehicles older than 10 years in six cities of Kerala, including Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi. Violators, 30 days from now, will have to pay ₹5,000 as environmental compensation, it added. NGT also directed authorities not to register diesel vehicles over 2000cc, except for public transport and local authority vehicles.
