11-16 mn years old well-preserved giant spider fossil found in Aus

A well-preserved giant fossil spider species that lived between 11 and 16 million years ago has been discovered at the McGraths Flat in Australia. Named Megamonodontium mccluskyi, it is the first-ever spider fossil found from the Barychelidae family, similar to the living genus Monodontium, a brush-footed trapdoor spider. It's, however, five times larger than Monodontium and measures about 50 mm.
