12 dead, dozens missing after vessel capsizes in Congo's Lake Kivu

A vessel carrying over 50 traders capsized in eastern Congo's Lake Kivu, claiming 12 lives and leaving dozens missing. It capsized near Idjwi Island, from where 15 people have been rescued. Notably, deadly boat accidents are common in Congo, as rivers and lakes are the main means of transportation for over 100 million people who lack safe roads.
