13k-yr-old teeth fillings give 2nd oldest dentistry evidence
A pair of 13,000-year-old front teeth found in Italy contain the earliest known use of fillings. Researchers found horizontal marks on teeth's interior walls suggesting that cavities had been drilled out by tiny stone tools. The markings were similar to those found in teeth from another site in Italy, dated 14,000 years ago, the first known example of human dentistry.
