14.5K NGOs banned from receiving foreign funds in last 5 years: Govt

The Rajya Sabha was on Wednesday informed that as many as 14,500 NGOs have been banned by the government from receiving foreign funds in the last five years. Union Minister Nityanand Rai said that Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) registration of 1,808 NGOs was cancelled this year. He further said FCRA registered NGOs in India received ₹2,244.77 crore in 2018-19.
