1.58 crore children in 10-17 age group addicted to drugs: Govt

The Central government on Wednesday informed Supreme Court that 1.58 crore children aged between 10-17 years are addicted to substances in India. The government said that alcohol is the most commonly used psychoactive substance by the Indians followed by Cannabis and Opioids. States with the highest prevalence of cannabis use are Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Sikkim, Chhattisgarh and Delhi, it added.
