159 account holders deposit fake gold for loans at ICICI Bank

A ₹23-crore gold loan scam, executed between January 2023 and October 2025, was uncovered in an internal audit by ICICI Bank authorities. A total of 159 account holders across nine different branches of the bank in Nagpur fraudulently availed themselves of loans by depositing fake gold ornaments. The Economic Offence Wing (EOW) of city crime branch is probing the matter.
