16th century Kerala temple relaxes dress code for women

Kerala's 16th century Padmanabha Swamy temple on Tuesday permitted women devotees to wear the traditional Indian salwar kameez and churidar while worshipping at the shrine. However, the temple's senior priest has voiced his opposition to the decision, reports said. Earlier, women devotees had to wear a 'mundu' (dhoti) if they were dressed in salwar and churidars.
