17-year-old donates stem cells to brother battling leukemia
A 17-year-old girl donated stem cells to her 10-year-old brother battling relapsed leukemia, enabling Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital near Chandigarh to perform its first allogeneic bone marrow transplant. The stem cells successfully engrafted following chemotherapy and transplantation. The child recovered and was discharged in good health, with continued post-transplant monitoring planned.
