17,000 people may have died due to hydroxychloroquine prescribed during COVID-19: Study

Nearly 17,000 people across six countries may have died after taking anti-malaria medicine hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) during the first wave of COVID-19 pandemic, a new study has said. The deaths were reported in the US, France, Belgium, Italy, Spain and Turkey, with US recording 12,739 of these deaths. Former President Donald Trump had notably promoted it, calling it a "miracle cure".
