18.7% of India’s equity market now held by individual investors, hits 20-year high
Individual investors now own 18.7% of India's equity market, their highest share in 20 years, but EY said the gap between digital access and actual investing remains wide. Over 550 million people use UPI, while only 62 million invest in mutual funds and around 50 million in equities. EY sees potential for over 100 million new long-term investors by 2035.
