188-year-old tree shows signs of life after transplant in Maha

A 188-year-old banyan tree transplanted from Pachpaoli to Gorewada Biodiversity Park in Maharashtra's Nagpur is showing strong signs of life, with fresh foliage and rapid branch development. The 42-foot-tall tree was relocated in November 2025 after a PIL intervened to prevent its felling for a proposed NMC e-library project. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari called it a "historic feat".
