1918 Spanish flu pandemic led to death of 1-2 crore in India, GDP was at -10.5%

Nearly 100 years before coronavirus pandemic, Spanish influenza pandemic of 1918 had killed 1 to 2 crore people in India. In the last 120 years of recorded economic history in India, 1918 was the worst as the country's recorded growth in real gross domestic product (GDP) was at -10.5%. It claimed somewhere between 5 crore and 10 crore lives globally.
