Bhartruhari Mahtab takes oath as pro-tem Speaker ahead of 1st session of 18th Lok Sabha

BJP MP Bhartruhari Mahtab was administered oath of pro-tem Speaker, a temporary post, by President Droupadi Murmu on Monday before the beginning of the first session of the 18th Lok Sabha. The session will take place amid controversies over his appointment and the alleged NEET paper leak. Congress criticised his appointment as this post traditionally goes to the longest-serving MP.
