2.5 lakh dead women getting ₹2,000 under K'taka govt scheme: Report

Families of around 2.5 lakh dead women across Karnataka are still receiving ₹2,000 into their accounts under the Gruha Lakshmi government scheme, Indian Express reported. The women and child development department suspects ₹70 crore has been misappropriated. The issue came to light six months ago when the department sought data from the portal dedicated to issuing birth and death certificates.
