2,600-year-old stone pillar from Assyrian Empire found in Iraq

Archaeologists found a rare 2,600-year-old stele, a stone pillar, in Iraq depicting King Ashurbanipal, one of the last kings of the Neo-Assyrian Empire which lasted for over 300 years. They added that Assyrian steles are exceptionally rare as many were destroyed, looted or damaged over thousands of years. Researchers said steles were used to celebrate rulers, victories and religious occasions.
