20 blackbucks released into wild in Gujarat on Independence Day

The Gujarat Forest Department released 20 blackbucks into the wild in the Banni Grasslands to mark the country's 80th Independence Day. The release comprised five male and 15 female blackbucks and was undertaken with prescribed protocols. The initiative is aimed at restoring the grassland's native herbivore community and recovering its ecological character and biodiversity, an official said.
