The government has imposed a 20% export duty on parboiled rice, which will take effect immediately, according to a government notification. Last month, the government had imposed a ban on exports of widely-consumed non-basmati white rice, following a ban on broken rice exports imposed last year. The government had also imposed a 40% export duty on onions last week.
