20 Indian workers died abroad daily in last 5 yrs; 86% deaths in Gulf nations: Govt
Indian worker fatalities abroad reached 37,740 between 2021 and 2025, with approximately 20 deaths daily, according to the Ministry of State for External Affairs data. Gulf countries accounted for over 86% of these deaths. The UAE (12,380) and Saudi Arabia (11,757) recorded the highest numbers of casualties. Recently, 12 Indian workers died in a gas facility blast in Qatar.
