200-yr-old mosque built illegally on railway land razed in Varanasi

The Varanasi administration demolished the Ajgaib Shaheed Mosque in the Rajghat area around midnight on Tuesday as part of a land-clearance drive for the proposed Kashi Model Railway Station project. The mosque, which members of the Muslim community claim was around 200 years old, had been built by encroaching on railway land. Five bulldozers were deployed for the demolition drive.
