21 lakh people with HIV in India, 15% in Maharashtra: Report

There were more than 21 lakh people living with HIV in India in 2017, of which 15% were in Maharashtra, according to a report by National AIDS Control Organisation. There were over 87,000 new HIV infections in the country, of which 11% were recorded in Telangana. Further, more than 69,000 people died of AIDS-related causes last year in the country.
