21-year-old engineering student Pritesh Mistry from Mumbai turned tomato waste into a plant-based biodegradable leather alternative under his brand 'Bioleather'. The material is cruelty-free, plastic-free and water-resistant. His innovation earned him the Best Innovation in Textiles award at the PETA Vegan Fashion Awards for creating a sustainable leather substitute.
