As many as 22 crore people applied for Indian government jobs between 2014-2022, of whom 7,22,000 were selected, Reuters reported citing government figures. "Many of those would've been repeat attempts, but millions of young Indians chase government jobs every year," the report added. Government data released this month showed 2 crore new jobs were generated each year since 2017/18.
